December 27, 1944 – February 14, 2025
Brenda Horsley Scott, 80, of Cullman, Alabama, entered the presence of our Lord and Savior on February 14, 2025. Brenda was born in Cullman, AL to the late Reverend Oscar David Horsley and Lela Odessa Entrekin. She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Micah Scott; brothers, J.F. Horsley and Larry Horsley; and sister, Wanda Horsley and Linda Horsley.
Brenda is survived by her loving family including her husband, Dan J. Scott; sons, Eric Scott (Pamela) and Jason Scott (Amanda); sister, Mary Thomas; sister-in-law, Peggy Horsley; beloved cousins, Doug Stephens, Stephanie Hamberger, and Rusty Stephens, who were raised together in the family home as their own children; grandchildren, Jacey Scott, Derek Bradford, Kenny Bradford, Jayden Scott, and Emma Scott.
Brenda lived a life full of love and warmth, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering kindness will forever be remembered by family and friends. As a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Brenda led the choir and committed herself to numerous acts of service. She will be cherished as a devoted wife and mother, loyal friend, and a pillar of strength for those who relied on her.
Throughout her life, Brenda demonstrated an extraordinary ability to love unconditionally and to provide support to those around her. Her laughter was a source of joy, her wisdom a beacon of guidance, and her presence a comfort in times of need. As an active member of the Holly Pond Homemakers club, she tirelessly helped raise funds and oversee the upkeep of the Holly Pond Cemetery.
Brenda was also a passionate genealogist who authored several books on her family and the Holly Pond community, preserving their history for future generations. She was active in the Holly Pond Historical Society. She was also an active member and leader in the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and helped many others through the exhaustive family research to join this organization.
Education was also a passion. She served for many years on the Cullman County Library Board. In her professional life, she dedicated herself to educating young minds as a teacher at Fairview High School.
We celebrate the beautiful memories we have shared with Brenda. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. While we mourn her loss, we find solace in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Brenda's unwavering faith assures us that she is now at peace in the presence of our Lord, where there is no more pain or sorrow.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday evening, February 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Brenda will lie in state on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until services begin at 2:00 p.m. Both visitation and funeral services will be held at Brenda's beloved church home, Pleasant View Baptist Church. Burial will follow services in Holly Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Holly Pond Cemetery Fund, an organization close to Brenda’s heart.
